Sex and Gender Working Group

Bring your knowledge and experience to this working group to develop an implementation strategy to modernize sex and gender information practices in EHR systems in Canada. The scope will include:

• Expanding the definition, collection, use and sharing of sex-gender info in EHRs
• Summarizing current practices, gaps and challenges
• Proposing an action plan to modernize sex-gender info practices in Canada.

We are also taking part in the HL7 Gender Harmony project that is underway.

Planning Project

The next Stakeholder Consultation Session is September 22nd, 2020.

Over the past five months we have held a series of consultation sessions. We are now moving into the next phase of our project in working with our stakeholers to develop an action plan to modernize gender, sex and sexual orientatioon (GSSO) information practices in electronic health records (EHRs).

Our questions are:

1. What are the current approaches to GSSO practices in EHRs?
2. What are the gaps, issues/needs and challenges with current approaches?
3. How should one define GSSO information practices in EHRs?
4. What are your suggested actions to modernize sex and gender information practices in EHRs?
