Our February meeting will feature a presentation from the Central LHIN in Ontario and the Canadian Patient Experiences Reporting System (CPERS). With the two presentations we will extend our regular meeting time to an hour and a half.

Presentation #1

Title:

CIHI's Newest Data Source: Canadian Patient Experiences Reporting System (CPERS) to capture acute care patient experience data

CIHI developed the Canadian Patient Experiences Reporting System (CPERS) to capture and report on patient reported experience measures (PREMS) from participating jurisdictions collected through the standardized Canadian Patient Experiences Survey – Inpatient Care (CPES – IC) Questionnaire. Survey administration standards as well as data submission standards have been developed to accompany the use of the CPES – IC. Several Canadian jurisdictions have been collecting data for over a year. We will provide an overview of the acute care patient experience work underway, an overview of the standards in place and the current stage of implementation.

Presenter:

Kristen Hart, Senior Analyst, Performance Improvement and Capacity Building, CIHI

Kristen Hart is a Senior Analyst, Performance Improvement and Capacity Building for the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI). Her primary focus for the last 2+ years has been on the development of administration standards for the collection of survey data from patients on their experience as an inpatient during an acute-care hospital stay. In addition she has supported the development of the Canadian Patient Experiences Reporting System (CPERS), designed the template for the facility-own results reports and contributed to the development of the Patient-Reported Experiences Measures (PREMS). Kristen holds a Bachelor of Arts in Health Studies from Queen’s University and a Master of Science in Epidemiology from the University of London (London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine).
