Our first meeting of 2016 will feature a presentation from the Champlain LHIN in Eastern Ontario.

Title:

Clinical Adoption & Impact of Champlain BASE eConsult Service – Lessons Learned and Myths Busted!

Overview:

The Champlain BASE eConsult service was launched 5 years ago and has been extremely well received by primary care providers and specialists alike. Adoption and utilization amongst the primary care and specialist communities has been growing consistently, having processed over 11,000 eConsult cases across 84 different specialties so far. Direct feedback from primary care has indicated that over 60% of cases did not require a face to face referral, and in 40% of cases an unnecessary referral was in fact avoided. We will outline our managed service approach and its key elements, review more detailed utilization and impact data, and share provider experiences. We will also present some of the key lessons learned as the service continued to grow and evolve, including initial assumptions and preconceptions that had to be corrected based on the actual data collected and analyzed.
