Hi Bonnie,
Thank you for your questions. When reviewing the LOINC Code 3330-8, Amiodarone -- this code has been deprecated in the past and then undeprecated in the latest July 2019 release. As you have identified that HIC is reporting in mass/vol we recommend proceeding to use Code 3330-8 and not the pCLOCD preferred code or MapTo code. Likewise, as is the same in the case of LOINC Code 10540-3, Glyburide as Dynacare is reporting in mass/vol we recommend using this code as it fits the need for use. This code was also undeprecated in the latest July 2019 release. We appreciate your request for guidance and this helps us know we are on the right track with changes in pCLOCD. Changes that best reflect the needs in lab reporting in Canada. Linda Monico Senior Specialist, Standards & InfoCentral |

Good morning,
While referencing the July 2019 pCLOCD release, I found two codes that are reported in mass/vol that are to be changed to be mapped with codes for Moles/vol . The first test in question is Amiodarone performed at the HIC using code 3330-8 for mass/vol. In the new pCLOCD release, this code is now with a note “Map to 15099-5”. When I checked 15099-5, this code has recommended units Moles/vol. As the HIC is reporting in mass/vol, 3330-8 appears to be the best option. Similarly, Glyburide performed at Dynacare using code 10540-3 for mass/vol. In the new pCLOCD release, this code is now with a note “Map to 32078-8”. When I checked 32078-8, this code has recommended units Moles/vol. As Dynacare is reporting in mass/vol, 32078-8 appears to be the best option. Any help and clarification would be greatly appreciated. Kindest regards, Bonnie Chipman EHR Informatics Consultant NL Centre for Health Information, 70 O'Leary Ave, St. John's NL, A1B 2C7 |
