LOINC has published a new resource to help users choose the correct LOINC code for microbiology and infectious disease laboratory tests. The new "Guide for Using LOINC Microbiology Terms" details best practices to be used by in vitro diagnostic (IVD) assay vendors, laboratory professionals, and anybody else who is mapping microbiology tests to LOINC.

The guide is available as a free download from the LOINC website at https://loinc.org/guides/micro (A free LOINC user account is required to access the PDF file).
